Slovak and Hungarian (Magyar) Historians at the End of the 19th and the
Beginning of the 20th Centuries.

Abstract: The study examines the forms of professional contact, communication
networks, and institutional cooperation between Slovak historians/archivists (such
as Pavol Križko, F. V. Sasinek, Ján Kvačala) and official Hungarian
historiographical institutions (the Hungarian Historical Society, the Hungarian
Academy of Sciences, editors Sándor Szilágyi, József Szinnyei) in the late 19th
and early 20th centuries. Despite growing political and national tensions during
Dualism, professional pragmatism, archival exchange, and mutual scholar
assistance allowed for fruitful cooperation in regional history, source editing,
and bio-bibliographical projects.
