Abstract: The study provides a comparative analysis of Slovak, Romanian, and
Hungarian historiography and politics of memory regarding the centennial
(2018–2020) of the end of World War I, the dissolution of Austria-Hungary, and
the Treaty of Trianon. The author categorizes historiographical approaches into
nationalist, national-analytic, and transnational-analytic schools. The study
explores how political elites instrumentalized historical anniversaries and
evaluates the extent to which professional historiography in these three
countries succeeded in deconstructing traditional national myths.
