Formovanie podnikov zahraničného obchodu v Československu v rokoch 1948 – 1953 Formation of foreign trade companies in Czechoslovakia in the years 1948–1953 Historický časopis, 2025, 73, 1, pp. 147-174, Bratislava. Abstract: The paper is devoted to the formation of foreign trade enterprises in Czechoslovakia after 1948. After February 1948, a second wave of nationalization occurred in Czechoslovakia as part of the reconstruction of the economic system, which also affected the field of foreign trade. From that time, it represented a state monopoly, which was operated through special entities, the so-called privileged companies of foreign trade, which, not counting a few exceptions, had the form of joint-stock companies. Privileged companies existed until 1953, when they were transformed into enterprises for foreign trade, to which other newly established foreign trade enterprises were added in the later period. The study approaches the process of transition from a market economy to a centrally planned economy, within which it focuses on the reconstruction of foreign trade. The supporting part of the study is an analysis of foreign trade monopoly organizations (establishment, characteristics, modifications, dissolution), which the author supplements with information on individual foreign trade exclusive companies (and foreign trade enterprises) that have been active in the field of foreign trade from the establishment of foreign trade exclusive companies in 1948 until their transformation into enterprises for foreign trade in 1953.
